Ayurveda 101: Summer with Kriplau's Larissa Hall Carlson and John Douillard

In this course, leading Ayurvedic experts Larissa Hall Carlson, the former dean of Kripalu’s School of Ayurveda, and John Douillard, founder of LifeSpa, will share four weeks worth of calming and cooling asana, pranayama, meditation, self-care practices, and dietary tips that will help you ease inflammation and anger during the heated pitta season—July through October. These practices are also great year-round if you are experiencing an excess of pitta dosha—if you have acid indigestion, acne, bloodshot eyes, agitation, or a short temper.

If Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga and means “the science of life.” So why don’t we use it more in the yoga studio and in life? This course created and lead by Kripalu’s former dean of Ayurveda, Larissa Hall-Carlson, and Life Spa founder and best-selling author John Douillard, demystifies the most elemental and mind-body balancing ancient science known to yogis. The four-week program or year-long package , allows you to learn about your body’s natural needs through each season and how to heal, eat, cook and cleanse for true balance. Plus, self-care demonstration techniques adapted to your individual dosha and signature yoga practices and poses you can use at home or as a teacher.
NOTE: This course qualifies for 30 "non-contact" continuing education hours with Yoga Alliance.
To ensure the best experience, we recommend taking each 4-week long course. We created 3 courses: winter or vata (vah-Tuh), summer or pitta (pit-TUH), and spring or kapha (kah-pha). To purchase a year of Ayurveda, be sure to buy the package.
